The Studio’s Origins
Founded by Kishau Rogers, Websmith Studio began inside Websmith Group as an incubator for ideas and became an independent company in 2015. Most of those ideas were discovered through active work with clients, organizations, and communities, then explored through research, prototyping, and student innovation.
Murals transformed the studio’s blank walls into shared spaces for imagination, storytelling, and creative collaboration. The physical environment reflected the spirit of the work: creating room for ideas to take shape through experimentation, making, and exchange.
The Studio, Expanded
Websmith Studio has since expanded beyond a single physical space to serve as a multidisciplinary innovation studio that includes incubated ventures, digital assets, and social impact initiatives at the intersection of technology, creativity, and culture.
At the heart of our work is the belief that innovation is a human right. We believe that creativity is a fundamental human quality, and that creative people have the capacity to make their ideas real using the knowledge, tools, relationships, and resources available to them.
Across the work we create, from rotating murals that reflect our mission and the themes we’re exploring to tools, frameworks, and narrative experiences, we hope to demonstrate what becomes possible when creativity, community, craft, and systems thinking come together.

How We Work.
Studio projects move from discovery into creating, testing, and real-world application. What we learn through that process shapes how the work develops and where it goes next.
- Discovery & Ideation: Identifying problems, opportunities, and ideas through active work, creative inquiry, and community collaboration.
- Prototyping & Field Pilots: Building tangible physical assets, digital media, and experimental models using whatever mediums best serve the idea, then testing them in real-world settings.
- Deployment & Activation: Bringing successful pilots into new environments through partnerships, licensing, or independent ventures (like Time Study or PeerLoc).
The projects featured In the Studio offer a look at ideas and assets currently in development, while the Creative Residency Program (an expansion of our original Student Innovation Program) gives selected creators additional support to develop a defined body of work.
Chromatic Language
Websmith Studio’s Creative Residency is a focused program for selected creative innovators whose work aligns with the studio’s mission and active areas of exploration. Residents are provided with funding, workspace, and access to tools and resources, along with dedicated time to develop a defined idea. Each residency results in a distinct body of work, often shared publicly as both process and outcome. Creators retain ownership of their work, while the studio documents and shares aspects of the residency to reflect the ideas developed within Websmith Studio.
Keara Rogers is our Creative in Residence and Associate Creative Director, a visual artist and digital creator working across painting and digital media. Her residency project, Chromatic Language, renders language as color-based compositions, revealing structure, rhythm, and emotional weight, with emerging applications in digital and computational systems.
